Yoga & Acro Play Time Workshops

I’ve been teaching some partner yoga workshops at Meiklem’s and Blissworks, and last night, I hosted my first workshop at the Dragon’s Egg in Ledyard! The space is absolutely beautiful, it’s a big open space with mirrors out in the woods. Driving there is like a journey into a microcosm.

I had so much fun leading some fun partner poses and getting people out of their comfort zones to try new things. The community energy was invigorating after a long winter, like spring for the soul. We worked together to make a down dog train, grew partner trees, and did some arm balances and inversions.

AcroYoga Fun and Empowering the Solar Plexus Chakra

Acroyoga is a combination of balance and strength!

I recently had the opportunity to do an AcroYoga workshop at Zen and Now in Niantic with my biffle Amanda! We had done a slacklining workshop together before, and have generally are interested in yoga and performance art. There was a wide range of yogis in the class, and needless to say, it’s a lot harder than it looks!

Going upside down is something I tend to work on sporadically, so to be able to achieve this inversion with a partner was especially empowering! I’m all about empowerment this week.

I taught a Solar Plexus Chakra class last night. The solar plexus is all about empowerment. I was reading an article about how to balance the solar plexus, which then led me to realize how I could focus onĀ  my solar plexus chakra to make some tough decisions. The main thing that stuck out to me, was to ask the question, “Will this empower me?” when weighing the options.

I did a little breathing exercise with my students to increase the power of the solar plexus. You can do this anywhere, but try it sitting in a quiet place, either in a chair or on the floor.

Inhale in light, inhale heat and life. Exhale out stored tension, emotions, whatever you hold that isn’t serving you. Inhale in strength and power. Exhale resistance and blockages. Inhale in empowerment.

Restorative Yoga and Workshop at Blissworks Yoga

I’ve been teaching a Restorative Yoga class on Wednesday nights 6:45 -8:15 PM at Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts in New London.

This class is perfect for anyone looking to wind down in the middle of the week, enjoy the stillness within, and release built up stress in the body. Props are used for maximum opening and relaxation in the body. Students report emotional release, relief from anxiety, and a deep sense of well-being.

How Restorative Yoga Helped Me

When I first did restorative yoga, I couldn’t believe how much I resisted stillness. Once my body was still, I found my mind chatter got louder and louder. Only when I listened to my inner voice and allowed it to speak, did I realize how much I was holding onto inside. Restorative yoga helps me to release negative emotions and become more aware of my mind and body connection. I became much more comfortable with stillness, turning inward, and treating myself with compassion.

Why I Teach Restorative

I began teaching Restorative because I was in love with how it helped unlock feelings that had been long repressed, and begin to live more joyfully and openly. I love to provide a safe and healing environment for people, a starting point for the process of letting go.
